Joe Brewer, a global leader in bioregional regeneration and system complexity, is coming to the Cascadia bioregion. Join us for discussions, field trips, and reflections on how Cascadia can grow and regenerate collaboratively. In the spirit of a gift economy, donations are welcome to support this important work.

Joe Brewer and his partner Penny Heiple from the Bioregional Activators Network are coming to the Cascadia Bioregion, including visits to British Columbia, Washington and Oregon. This is an international collaborative effort, drawing on decades of scientific research, to bring together a planetary network of bioregions.

We are using this tour as a means for activating local, watershed based groups and networks, and working to weave together the solutions and answers we need. The Cascadia Bioregion can both lead and learn from regions around the world for cultural regeneration (generations in the community) and ecological regeneration (community in the bioregion).

Joe is a transdisciplinary scholar with a background in both earth sciences and cognitive sciences. He’s an inspiring speaker and leading-edge systems complexity thinker. He’s currently doing on-the-ground regeneration work in a 500,000-hectare (~1.5 million-acre) bioregion around Barichara, Colombia, and helping to create a global bioregional network. He is the founder of the Design School for Regenerating Earth and the author of The Design Pathway for Regenerating Earth.

Author of The Design Pathway for Regenerating Earth (2021) and an emerging global leader in bioregional regeneration, Joe is visiting Rochester in early February. Interested folks are being invited to an evening event on Friday, Feb. 10 (6-8:30 at Greentopia), field trips on Saturday, Feb. 11, in the Haudenosaunee lands of the Genesee Finger Lakes region, a wrap-up session, and a potluck breakfast at the home of Victoria Zelin & Jonathan Cloud (address to be sent to those responding Yes or Maybe in the RSVP below).

Joe is also the founder of Earth Regenerators, a 4300+ member global network of activists and experts, of the Center for Applied Cultural Evolution, of Barichara Ecoversity in Barichara, Colombia, and of Bioregional Activators. He is an inspiring speaker, complexity researcher, and transdisciplinary scholar who is devoting his life to helping humanity through the sustainability bottleneck. He weaves insights from the scientific study of cultural evolution, human cognition, and earth systems science into frameworks for action.

Possible Planet and Earth Regenerators operate in the gift economy, and these programs are offered freely.
