Our current vision for the next year.

Discussing and articulating our educational philosophy and pedagogy (this will guide the development and teaching methodology of all activities that include an educational component, and most of our activities likely will). Learn more about past events and the Bioregional movement on these links

A solid core team with shared mission and vision, core values, trust and solid minimal viable structures and processes, especially decision making to manage our work, is established.

Generative relationships with Lummi and Nooksack tribes participating (in ways they define) are in progress.

One or more bio-regional mapping and follow-up strategy sessions yielding a “best knowledge based” strategy for a portfolio of projects for the regeneration of our landscape have occurred.

We will hold a strategic planning sessions for all aspects of RW’s work

At least 3-4 “circles of commitment and regenerative activity” work steadily at the speed of community and trust and making progress (e.g. focus on water cycle, education, land management practices, urban landscape restoration, art circles, community building, finances).

The Bioregional Reflection activities that are part of the Landscape Group application are used in strategy sessions.

Budgeting and financial management systems are established.

Aspects of our work that require funding, such as paid positions,  have been identified and fundraising strategies developed to implement them, such as, participating in flow funding opportunities.

Regular get-togethers on the land-sharing fun, knowledge, food, art are happening.

Explore ways to partner and/or support agencies and organizations already engaged in earth regeneration in the region.

Support is in place for 2 – 4 regeneration projects in the region.

We are connecting people with time and energy to specific regeneration projects in the area.

Develop processes that help ensure that our work together is not sourced from the same mindset, biases, blindspots, collective traumas, etc. that have led to the metacrisis in the first place. We are exploring and articulating a Vision, Mission, and Core Values that will inform our ways of communicating, governance structures, meeting and decision making processes.

A solid core team with shared mission and vision, core values, trust and solid minimal viable structures and processes, especially decision making to manage our work, is established.

Regenerate Whatcom Connections Sheet

A great resource to learn about each other’s needs and wants are, and a great place to discover people you might want to work with. Please add your information to this sheet.

Regenerate Cascadia Mighty Networks site (coming soon!)

This will be a place to connect with each other, share ideas/projects, read announcements and much more.  Stay tuned for more information.

Transition Whatcom Events Page

An excellent place to learn about upcoming regeneration related events and more!

Regenerate Whatcom on the Regenerate Cascadia website

This site has basic information about RW but is not yet as functional as the Regenerate Whatcom Community site.  Yet to be determined how it will be used in the future.

Design School for Regenerating Earth

This is the Mighty Network page for DSRE. LOTS of information about bioregionalism and the global earth regeneration movement. Great place to learn more and take a deep dive into the movement.

About the Author

As a co-steward of Inspiration Farm for the past 20 + years, Brian has a wide breadth of practical knowledge on how to partner with natural systems to bring forth stability and abundance. Being interested in gardening and appropriate technology since I was a kid, I have followed a path towards a regenerative lifestyle. Inspired by my grandpa Jerry who ran an integrated farm on South Whidbey island. He was visited by Bill Mollison in the early 70's. After taking many short workshops on animals, grafting, gardening etc. my wife took a PDC with the Bullock brothers which I visited often. We held a PDC in 2009 here at Inspiration Farm featuring Robin Francis and Doug Bullock as instructors among others. Inspiration Farm is an 13 acre homestead styled farm since 1994. Integrating Biodynamic and Permaculture practices in relation to annual & perennial food systems, animal husbandry, appropriate technology, land/water nutrient management. Currently we have 1.5 acres in annual production and 2 acres of fruit, nut and other perennials. We have chickens, milk cow, goats and raise turkeys and pigs most years. Our vision at Inspiration Farm is to co-create an environment to experiment and learn methods of creative and regenerative, resilient thriving. Biodynamic farming is a type of organic farming that incorporates an understanding of natural dynamic forces not yet fully understood by science. By working creatively with these subtle energies, we are able to significantly enhance the health of our farm affecting the quality of the soil, nutrition and flavor of the food grown. Throughout the year we have a variety of Events, Tours and Workshops. This year we are hosting several workshops on permaculture and sustainable practices. Contact us if you would like to be notified on workshops that we will be hosting or would like to bring a group for a experiential farm tour. Are you interested in taking a Permaculture Design Certificate Course? We want to hear from you. 619 E Laurel rd Bellingham Wa 98226 360-319--2029
