Regenerate Cascadia grows through groups. Some form around a place, a watershed or landscape people call home. Others form around a practice, a topic such as food, water, or regenerative finance that crosses the whole bioregion. Each one starts small and informal, and each can grow into a formal program of Regenerate Cascadia under the Department of Bioregion's 501(c)(3).
Two ways to begin
Wherever you start, you begin the same way: gather a few people, find each other, and see what wants to happen. When three or more of you are meeting regularly and ready to hold funds, your group can apply to become a formal program.
Around a place
- Seed Group — the open, informal start. One person can begin one. No money and no paperwork; it is simply a space to gather people in your landscape.
- Landscape Group — the formal program. It can receive tax-deductible donations and grants, hold a dedicated fund, and represent Regenerate Cascadia in its landscape.
Around a practice
- Topic Group — the open, informal start on the topic side. One person can gather others around an area of regenerative practice that spans landscapes.
- Guild — the formal program for a topic. It carries the same nonprofit status and capacity as a Landscape Group, applied to a practice rather than a place.
