On Saturday, November 21, the Regenerate Greater Victoria Landscape Stewards will host a Bioregional Mapping Workshop in Victoria, BC. The Stewards are part of Regenerate Cascadia’s Landscape Hub Cultivator pilot program. About 25 people from a range of backgrounds will gather to explore Greater Victoria as a whole living system.

Locating ourselves together

At its heart, bioregional mapping is less about maps and more about using maps and conversation to locate ourselves together in our home landscape. It is also about discovering the relationships that want to happen but rarely get the chance to form across the usual divisions of modern society. When we come together with skillful listening and place-based knowledge to share, and do so around remarkable maps of place, new patterns and possibilities, informed by the land, become visible.

Participants will get to know one another, share food, tell stories of place around the maps, and notice what is already alive across Greater Victoria.

A first gathering

This first gathering is by invitation, to keep it small enough for real conversation. It is only the beginning. We hope to share what we learn afterward and to create ways for the wider community to contribute their own knowledge, relationships and care for this place.
