Launch Event: Bioregional Funding Ecosystems
Brandon Letsinger will be heading out next week to participate in the launch event hosted by the Design School, in partnership with the Legacy Project. , the Design School is hosting an in person gathering of people who are actively organizing around Bioregional Funding Ecosystems. The event is in the Greater Tkaronto Bioregion September 24th through 28th.
Five Design School members who have stepped into the design of bioregional funding ecosystems in their own bioregions will meet in Toronto. Together we will create the design framework for a year-long learning process in five bioregional contexts:
- Barichara Colombia ::Joe Brewer and Natalia Ortiz will participate as representatives of Fundación Barichara Regenerativa
- Cascadia :: Brandon Letsinger will participate as representative of Regenerate Cascadia
- Forests of the Northeast :: Keetu Winter and Chez Liley will participate as representatives from Wellspring Commons; Bill Baue as a representative of the Connecticut River Bioregional Collaborative.
- Greater Tkaronto :: Brian Puppa and Susan Bosak as representatives of the Legacy Project
- Ogallala / High Plains :: Will Masters as a representative of Ogallala Life and partner organizations
We will also be joined by Tyler Wakefield of The Biofi Project and Martin Kirk of NoVo Foundation. Each in their way is contributing to this body of work as we create a community of practice around bioregional finance. Find more details here.

Regenerate Cascadia Design School Cohort Meetings Wrap-up
- Thursday September 12th the Regenerate Cascadia cohort of the Design School for Regenerating Earth Learning Journey held it’s last meeting of the Learning Journey. The Learning Journey started with the Spring Equinox, 2024 and recently ended with the Fall Equinox, 2024. The Learning Journey, that followed the Activation tour a year ago, brought together over 500 people from communities around the world. The Regenerate Cascadia cohort met bi-weekly over this time to talk about how the learnings can be applied here in the places we love so dearly. We celebrate all we have learned together and look forward to next steps emerging-teams, hubs and guilds beginning to form in Cascadia! More to come soon about activities this Fall leading into key work in 2025.
Regenerate Cascadia accepted as a Flow Funder as a part of Kinship Earth Flow Fund
A key goal of Regenerate Cascadia is to build capacity to help funds flow to teams working to regenerate landscapes-the work in place! As part of this effort, Regenerate Cascadia has been accepted as a Flow Funder as a part of Kinship Earth Flow Fund. As our work in this area builds we will continue to provide updates and ways to get involved.
Department of Bioregions Board Retreat
Regenerate Cascadia is a 501(c)3 nonprofit program of the Department of Bioregion . Sunday September 15th the Board had a retreat to strengthen and clarify the organization. Board Members did organization mapping around the Department of Bioregion, Cascadia Department of Bioregion, Movement, Store, Festival and Regenerate Cascadia as a program. Discussions were had on how to grow the board, especially as we want to grow beyond Cascadia and how are we growing into Canada. Thanks to those who spent a Sunday helping this movement grow stronger!
