More than a hundred canoes are moving down the Salish Sea for the 2026 Paddle to Nisqually Medicine Creek Potlatch. This week they were hosted at Suquamish and at Puyallup, and the leg between them ran the length of Vashon and Maury.
The inaugural Cascadia Men’s Conference is a four-day mythopoetic gathering in the Squamish Valley, weaving keynote lectures, embodied workshops, ritual, poetry, and myth-telling around the theme Courting the Divine Spark.
Two years after a gray whale stranded on Vashon’s east shore, the sculpture built from his skeleton is installed at the Vashon Center for the Arts. Between those two moments sit 400 volunteer hours, 150 high school students, and one eighth grader who 3D-scanned all 164 bones.
