Regenerate Cascadia / Ways We Live Series
"Maps With Teeth" is a documentary segment from the ten-part series "Ways We Live." The film explores the concept of bioregions as the way the world divides up naturally, defined by climate, watershed, mountains, and travel routes, rather than by the political boundaries we are accustomed to. It features Peter Berg of the Planet Drum Foundation and cartographer Doug Abberley, both pioneers of bioregional mapping, as they work to reconnect people with their natural neighborhoods. Community members are encouraged to create their own maps that capture the knowledge of people who know the place. The film is a foundational resource for understanding bioregional mapping as both an act of reclamation and a tool for local empowerment.
