The Vashon Island Growers Association (VIGA) promotes growing, farming, and food production on Vashon-Maury Island while working to build a local agricultural economy that is equitable, accessible, and sustainable. Founded in the 1980s with a small farmers market, VIGA now operates a vibrant Saturday Farmers Market at the Village Green, educational programs including Get Growing workshops and the Farming in Community (formerly C.R.A.F.T.) network for farm interns, and a Food Access Partnership that increases access to locally grown food for community members with limited financial resources. VIGA also manages a Food Preservation Initiative to reduce waste and build a community larder.
