TWIST: A Community of Practice
In late 2025, TWIST hosted exploratory conversations with members and peers to understand how bioregional and place-based approaches are taking shape, what questions practitioners are holding, and what it means to mobilise capital in systemic ways aligned with the living dynamics of landscapes and communities.
TWIST (Together We Invest for Systems Transformation) is a collective of investors, practitioners, and facilitators from around the world who are actively deploying capital and/or facilitating processes for positive systems change.
TWIST has expanded into a global initiative, guided by a 12-member Steering Committee and enriched by 100 Community of Practice members. These members now represent 4 continents and 16 countries, and have collectively contributed 55 case studies to date*, each highlighting a distinct opportunity in investing for systems change. (*JULY, 2025)
Ultimately, TWIST envisions a world in which all capitals are effectively activated for positive systems transformation, so that mother earth and all living beings can thrive. TWIST’s role is to activate the investor community and foster an enabling environment for positive systems transformation. We invite you to join us on this mission.
The December 2025 document report, linked below, highlights emerging insights and reflects TWIST’s commitment to collective learning and evidence-building at the intersection of systems change and investing. This report is intended as a learning artifact, a directional map of what is emerging rather than a prescriptive definition.
Beginning early 2026, TWIST will convene a Bioregional Working Group for members who are:
- designing or funding bioregional portfolios,
- leading place-based initiatives; or
-
building governance, capital, or learning infrastructures in bioregional contexts.
The working group will host a short learning series to explore identified questions, invite practitioners to share models, and build a shared resource library within the TWIST resource hub. The work ahead is about understanding how investors, communities, and ecosystems evolve together. It is an invitation into coherence, loosely held and collectively stewarded.
