Kulshan Carbon Trust celebrated their 5th Birthday on April 4, 2026 at Inspiration Farm with a biochar event!

The afternoon included:

  • Cupcakes & kombucha to toast five years of climate resilience work!
  • A guided tour of Inspiration Farm showcasing 30 years of regenerative land stewardship.
  • biochar kiln demonstration — the inaugural burn of KCT’s two FlameWise kilns!
  • Small-group Community Conversations on attendee topics and how KCT can best serve our communities.

We learned about the importance of the carbon cycle and how biochar captures carbon which can then be activated to be used in building soil. We also learned about how the carbon cycle and small water cycle work together to support the natural earth cycles that provide a living planet.

Wood and brush were collected to feed the biochar.

Folks took home a bucket of biochar for gardens and to add to potting soil.

Congratulations to Kulshan Carbon Trust-and here’s to many more years of important work and partnerships.
