HI Brandon! Thanks so much for building our connection through this website! I am up to my ears working on projects for Transition Fidalgo but hope to have time to figure out how to use this website opportunity to join our Salish Sea Transition group/Hub with sister organizations around the Salish Sea and particularly in the Skagit/Whidbey area! .

      Hi Laurie,

It’s wonderful to see you here! And thank you for bearing with us as we get these spaces up and functional. Feel free to take it easy in these early stages, but then, please let us know what kind of spaces we can create to help build more connections and support for you.

Hi Laurie – thanks so much for joining here. Let me know if you want to join the Skagit group, want us to start a Fidalgo group as a subgroup of Skagit, or if it might make sense to create a broader group that includes Whidbey, Camano, Fidalgo and Skagit.

Here is my first web site feedback. One of many to come. I was asked to join the welcome group. I’ve been noodling around RCweb for about a week. Just a little bit so I have some content and joined some groups. I recorded a Loom video for real time audio/visual comments as I encounter the home page and the Welcome group. Loom even added 2 summary comments with their AI from what I said. 😎

Thank you Steve! I am having lots of questions also. And I am helping create the new groups. Keep those suggestions coming. A very visible way of searching is a great idea!

“Feed” seems to be the main root page or first page or a group.

Thanks Steven. Can I firstly, say – I love Loom.

OK. Thoughts if I get this right.

      1) Search Bar
      2) Welcome Group vs RC Community – how do we make this more clear?
      3) Link should go to the Forum, not the thread, and have easy HOW TO’s/Start Here.
      4) Adjust sidebar menu (on the list)

Now that I am logged in I want to fluidly move among forums. Have the main menu change based on user status. Ad a single menu item with nested links to all forums and sub-forums? Alt: have the topic links change from link to page and instead link to forum. Have link back to page in each forum sidebar.

yeah I have been trying to figure out how to navigate this. My thinking is when logged in, the link will be the buddyboss group, rather than the page. The main thing, is what if an organizer want’s to say, view how a page looks? I dunno. Will figure out. But yes, very noted.

It might be that every buddyboss group has a manually assigned custom sidebar that is the “@@ guild sidebar” that has a link to the @@ guild home pages. Maybe such a guild sidebar could be used for guild posts etc?? Some standard feature that ties things together. However, when on a phone, even with good responsive themes, complex pages get hard to navigate… everything is just stacked. On a phone your salvation is the menu… so having good menu access to the stuff you want is key.

Vocabulary is confusing to me… “topic” vs “guild” vs “group” vs “forum” (and I know what I am looking at.

    Make it much simpler.

it’s confusing to me to. I don’t know. I’m thinking “Communities” are the buddyboss groups. always. then when a leadership team emerges, it becomes a Hub, Guild, Project. etc. Delineation really only matters for the backend structure.

The main thing is that topics and guilds are different then the place based groups. so I think we do need at least 2 types of distinction even for … buddyboss groups. but maybe no more than that.

Next feedback. In my guild, on the [feed] tab the members list appears to have all the site’s community members not just my guild’s. Watch to see.

Thanks Steven. Aware of it. I was hoping that it was the guild members. Was disappointed that it’s a full list, so will probably remove. There may be some add on in the future where we can display a group specific info, but it doesn’t seem to be easily apparent, which is disappointing. Things like this I’d add into an idea roadmap, because I would love to have group specific members, updates etc. in the sidebars of a group or forum

I gave this same feedback – members listed on the group feeback are not members of the group, but seems to be all website members.

No Home in the menu so when I click the logo intending to go to the home page, when I am logged in hoping to see some kind of member dashboard, I still see the login and signup buttons. The Home page is still visible when logged in. I tried logging in again, after log out and land on Brendon’s member timeline page, not mine now.

    1. Home page(s) for logged in and logged out.
    2. Fix so when logged in we see our own timeline maybe? not Brandon’s.

I’ll check that I didn’t accidently route it to my home page 🙂 haha. oopz.

Okay. I updated the login URL to https://regeneratecascadia.org/groups/welcome/ – which is the main feed of the welcome group. This is silly, but I don’t know the URL to send people to their main timeline.

Point 2) We renamed welcome group to regenerate cascadia community. The menu title under “Hi” needs to reflect that, which will help ease confusion a little bit in the sense that what opens up for people matches the menu item they click on.

I think we can change “Hi” to say “Get started or start here” or something like it.

Let’s keep working with this a bit. I think having a “Welcome Group” is good, and think sending to the main regen Cascadia community is fine – but I think I’ll shift it to the forum, rather than feed.

I think we need to add in an introduction thread, onboarding, and organizer resources as forum threads, maybe also with a stickied “Start Here” and links to resources.

I like the Hi menu to be renamed to something like Welcome or Start here, remembering Steven’s first feedback “Wheres the Welcome Group?”.

It is fine to have the Welcome Group being under a menu called Welcome but maybe that Welcome Group link can be renamed to “Start Here” or (to consider Tanja’s suggestion a bit) maybe “Start at Regenerate Cascadia Community”, but that may be too long? Just exploring here > “Regenerate Cascadia Community – Start Here”.

      “Start Here”

“Start Here” works in main menus (better then “Hi”).

And both the “Welcome Group” and “RC Intro Forum” goes to the Discussions (aka forum) and is better then going to the Group Feed.

I like that you put “Coffee House Convos” on same level as “RC Intro Forum” under “Welcome Groups” (plural!). People can come in and start connecting to humans, like the general Telegram channel. We will all be there to help welcome everyone. Good idea!
