Register Now for “How to Organize Your Bioregion”: A New Cascadia Cohort Enters the Design School

In partnering with the Design School for Regenerating Earth, we are signing Cascadians up for the newest global course on “How to Organize Your Bioregion.” For anyone looking to understand how to let the land organize our ecological and cultural restoration work, this course will connect you with organizers in your geographic areas, provide you with guidance in how to form your own landscape teams, and support you in overcoming barriers to successful teamwork!

Heard enough? Register here.

This program is especially for those who want to deepen their understanding of bioregionalism, become a part of a shared community of practice, take meaningful action towards bioregional regeneration, and form landscape hubs around Cascadia.

Course participants will meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings every other week, though you can always catch recordings of the webinars later if you can’t make it.

Purposes of the Learning Journey

  1. Learn more about bioregionalism, bioregional mapping, bioregions, and Regenerate Cascadia’s programs.
  2. Come together with others in a landscape to start forming local landscape groups as part of a regional coordinating strategy in a healthy, pro-social way.
  3. Meet regularly and foster nested connections with other bioregions from around the world.
  4. Re-engage with former Learning Journey members who are already active and support deepening the work in their landscapes.
  5. Identify bioregional leaders and teams for our 2025 Landscape Regeneration Cultivator, encouraging participation in bioregional mapping, fostering local funding ecosystems, and envisioning guilds around cross-regional topics.

Breakdown of Costs

Because we believe in this work and this knowledge, we want you to choose what you can afford for this course. No one turned away for lack of funds.

The base cost of a year-long subscription to the Design School for Regenerating Earth is $50. This year, we have a cohort coordinator, Andra, who will be supporting the Cascadians heading into the Design School as they learn, grow, and connect. To help cover the cost of their time as well as the year-long subscription, we are asking for $150. If you’d like to pay it forward, there’s an option to make a donation to also cover the cost of someone else attending this course for $300.

Course Schedule

This six-month journey (March–September 2025) will follow a bi-weekly rhythm.

In the Design School for Regenerating Earth, during “on weeks,” join other members from around the world to attend the following:

  • One webinar (Tuesdays) – 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. every two weeks with leading voices in bioregionalism, regeneration, and organizing.
  • One global community call (Thursdays) – 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. every two weeks to share experiences, challenges, and successes.
  • One Cascadia call – (time TBD) every two weeks to begin practicing sociocractic meeting facilitation, group organization, and collaborating within your specific landscapes.

Participants will also be able to join activities in the “Inner Space,” where we focus on cultivating the inner capacities for effective bioregional leadership.

Meet Andra Vltavín, Our Cascadia Cohort Coordinator

To better facilitate learning about bioregionalism, networking in the landscape, and connecting to the knowledge commons in the Design School for Regenerating Earth, Andra will be supporting students during the Design School’s 2025 Learning Journey: How to Organize Your Bioregion as our first Regenerate Cascadia Cohort Coordinator!

In this role, Andra will facilitate onboarding to the Design School platform, hold Cascadia Cohort calls every other week, and act as a liaison between the Design School and Regenerate Cascadia to provide regular updates. In this way, we anticipate people in the course will find support for greater involvement in their landscape and Cascadia.

What is the Design School for Regenerating Earth?

The Design School for Regenerating Earth has grown to more than 500 members organizing together on the ground in bioregions while simultaneously building a planetary network through our online learning community. This enables focused actions to arise with clear design and intent so that we can effectively regenerate at the bioregional scale and create interactions and support among and across bioregions.

How Does This Connect to the Previous Learning Journey, “Birthing Bioregional Learning Centers”?

During the previous learning journey, we identified ways that bioregional organizers need support, namely in terms of leadership skills, group formation strategies, and ways to bring the landscape deeply into ourselves and the work. This new learning journey will bring both new participants and seasoned bioregional experts into discussions about the practical matters associated with on-the-ground landscape work and organizing your landscape in a fractal, nested-scale system.
