What is a Regenerate Cascadia Landscape Group?
A Regenerate Cascadia Landscape Group is the next circle of commitment beyond a Seed Group for teams actively organizing, meeting regularly, and mobilizing resources for regeneration. While Seed Groups focus on gathering and exploring opportunities, Landscape Groups are more established, with at least three dedicated stewards committed to long-term planning, fundraising, and project implementation. This level of commitment is ideal for groups seeking grants, fundraising beyond $12,000 a year, and taking on larger projects through the increased benefits from Regenerate Cascadia’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and support.
At this stage landscape stewards start to manage their own website updates, events, and communications, while the Regenerate Cascadia Community Steward remains available for guidance as needed. Groups now work directly with our Operations Assistant to manage funds, process reimbursements, meet nonprofit reporting requirements, and build internal capacity while staying connected to the broader bioregional movement.
Benefits of Being a Regenerate Cascadia Landscape Group
- Connection, Collaboration and Trust – Become part of a broad network of regenerative leaders, organizers, and practitioners across the Cascadia bioregion who are co-learning and growing trust together.
- Be Part of the Regenerate Cascadia 501(c)(3) Umbrella – Landscape Groups receive the benefits of coming underneath Regenerate Cascadia’s 501(c)(3) program, allowing them to accept both one-time and recurring tax-deductible unlimited donations and be eligible for grants. 10% of funds raised by a Landscape Group under our nonprofit umbrella goes back to Regenerate Cascadia to help provide our nonprofit programming services and support.
- Shared Services and Support – Receive dedicated support from our Community Steward to help get your updates on our website and newsletters and from our Operations Assistant, who will help manage nonprofit reporting requirements and payroll services (if applicable). Your group also gets access to a @regeneratecascadia.org email address, a dedicated Zoom line, Adobe Suite, and other dedicated digital tools and services.
- Education and Community Building – Join the Regenerate Cascadia community of practice on our website and the Design School for Regenerating Earth to meet peers and mentors around Cascadia and the planet.
- Communication and Outreach – Get promotion and increased visibility through Regenerate Cascadia’s website, newsletters, and social media.
- Local Governance with Shared Administrative Support – Groups operate with a high degree of independence, managing their day-to-day operations while benefiting from collective knowledge and resources. Decision-making remains in the hands of local organizers, while Regenerate Cascadia still assists with nonprofit services and handles reporting requirements.
- Growth and Development Pathway – Up to 10 highly engaged landscape groups will be invited to join us for our Landscape Hub Cultivator to develop hubs that serve as regional coordination centers for larger-scale impact.
What Does a Regenerate Cascadia Landscape Group Do?
These activities not only support Landscape Groups in their organizing and advocacy work, they are also important in how they support our goal of developing a transparent and accessible co-learning network.
- Host a regular monthly meeting that has an open pathway for how the general public can engage, volunteer, donate, and move into leadership positions.
- Use space on the Regenerate Cascadia website – Create an informational page describing your group and contact info on our website, and use a dedicated space we create on our website backend for group management.
- Add events to the Regenerate Cascadia website online calendar and keep the community informed.
- Add a once-a-month update to the Regenerate Cascadia website blog feed.
- Share Bioregional Updates – Have a member represent and share updates with bioregional organizing teams in a regular session.
- Build directories and project portfolios, including bioregional mapping efforts relevant to your landscape.
- Initiate and support regeneration projects, engaging members from multiple groups and organizations.
- Develop shared funding strategies and long-term financial plans.
- Create and maintain a group budget based on identified priorities and work with our Operations Assistant to manage fund reimbursements.
Group Stewards
Landscape groups should have at least three individuals who serve as stewards for your group. For each steward we ask that you provide their name, email address, phone number, and a brief public biography (2–3 sentences) that we can share on the website.
Stewards play a key role in helping the group stay active and connected. They are responsible for:
- Welcoming new members and answering questions
- Coordinating local meetings and communication
- Sharing updates, reminders, and opportunities
- Posting events and updates to the RC website and newsletter
- Coordinating group activities such as regeneration projects and fundraising through donations and grants
- Supporting collaboration with other Regenerate Cascadia organizers
Groups may change their stewards at any time by request so we can keep the website updated. Stewards should be comfortable helping organize local activities and communicating on behalf of the group.
