June 26th Regenerate Whatcom/Whatcom Permaculture met in Jeanette’s food and medicine forest in a suburban neighborhood! Driving to her home one drives through manicured lawns and neat bushes and trees. 11 years ago, Jeanette’s lawn was the same-now it is home to hundreds of plants that offer food and medicine. Jeanette happens to like really large plants-so it is quite something to walk through-packed from the ground up and over our heads in many places.
Jeanette is the founder of Plant Friends Permaculture, a 10 year old suburban edible and medicinal garden featuring
fruit trees and shrubs, perennial vegetables, medicinal herbs, and pollinator plants.
