Wow! What an amazing first two weeks. We had almost 100 people sign up for the Learning Journey, and 80 of those people have already dived headfirst into the content from the Design School for Regenerating Earth. We had an amazing first regional call of the year for the Cascadia bioregion with 42 participants! That space will continue to emerge as a co-created co-learning space, and we are excited to watch it evolve. To see a recording of that gathering, click here.
It’s not too late to join the Learning Journey on How to Organize Your Bioregion, hosted by the Design School for Regenerating Earth! This six-month course will connect you to bioregional organizers in your area so we can create a cohesive strategy for regenerating the landscape and healing every watershed. Register here.
Who’s Here? Introducing Our 2025 Cohort
In addition to about a dozen people from the previous cohort who are coming in to support the new people coming in, we have many new faces who have already been heavily involved in organizing their landscapes. We also have several researchers coming in to observed the bioregional movement happening in Cascadia, including Chloe Ahmann, an assistant professor in anthropology at Cornell University.
Here’s some stats about who is joining our cohort this year:

While the webinars are available to participants as recordings if they cannot join live, most people are interested in attending live. This is the best way to get the most of out of the breakout sessions and the real-time potential energy we are generating in this movement.

First Webinar Content – How to Organize Your Bioregion
Joe Brewer opened the course strong in the first webinar, discussing why we need a clear bioregional strategy to work toward regenerating the landscape during a time when ecological and financial systems collapse/reordering is eminent.
Joe and Penny also went through all the content available on the Design School platform, including access to the “Inner Space,” which takes place on the off-weeks of the webinar course content and is a great place to develop capacity for leadership.
If you’d like to see a recording of this session, the first one is publicly available here.
Landscape Teams Are Already Beginning to Organize!
Several teams are coming into the Learning Journey ready to hit the ground running! The Northern and Southern Willamette Valley teams are going strong with many regular meetings and frameworks for organizing. The Olympic Peninsula group is beginning to set up meetings as well! And there’s a group in the Fraser Lowland doing some excellent work together. Keep an eye out for their team pages as they develop through the course of the Learning Journey. And if you would like join the events they are planning, check out our community calendar.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Learning Journey as we move through the course content and activate additional landscapes.
