SUMMARY:Regenerate Greater Victoria: A Community Conversation
DESCRIPTION:The Regenerate Cascadia activation tour of last October inspired a small group of citizens to meet in December to continue the conversation on regenerating Cascadia. That discussion led to the attached invitation to attend a larger Community Conversation\, on Feb.17th\, around ways to regenerate our local eco-region of Greater Victoria\, a hub that is nested in the larger bioregion of Cascadia. As a possible future hub of Regenerate Cascadia\, Regenerate Greater Victoria would receive the full support of this Cascadia wide bioregional regeneration movement\, should we choose to participate in the Regenerate Hub formation process. \nREGENERATE GREATER VICTORIA — a place-based hub within Regenerate Cascadia — warmly invites you to attend a Community Conversation\nLet’s discover how we can move forward together with our work of local regeneration. This conversation will center the principles of watersheds\, \nthe living systems that nourish the health of all.\nSaturday\, February 17th\, 2024\n10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.\nat Broad View United Church\, 3703 St. Aidan’s St.\nWhat to expect: We will meet in small and large groups\, around the inspirations\, questions\, and projects that are unique to the Greater Victoria hub that nests within our larger bioregion of Cascadia. No previous involvement necessary! \nDiscovery Café* — event outline \n10:00 — Welcome and land acknowledgment\n10:15–10:45 — Speaker: Gerald Harris\, director of Friends of Bowker Creek\, speaking on the\necology and culture of watersheds\n10:45–11:45 — Small group discussions: discover the gifts of\, and challenges facing\, our\nwatersheds\n11:45–12:15 — Large group harvest: discover themes and patterns observed in our discussions\n12:15–12:30 — Open conversation and question period: what are our needs? where are the\nsupports?\nPlease invite others from your networks to join this vital conversation. Organizing around\nwatersheds is critical to the regeneration of entire bioregions\, and beyond. We will be stronger\ntogether and amplify our work through our connections to the land and to each other.\nSPACE IS LIMITED: Please RSVP by February 14 to also help us comfortably arrange the space at Broad View United.\nPlease include numbers of invitees and their group or organization\, if applicable.\nLight refreshments will be available. Also enjoy a stimulating array of maps to inspire curiosity\nabout our home eco-region. Any maps that you have of the region are welcome for the display. \nWe look forward to seeing you!\nIn friendship\, the organizing team\, Regenerate Greater Victoria\n*The Discovery Café is adapted from the World Café format

SUMMARY:Regenerate Victoria - Follow-up and Report Back
DESCRIPTION:Dear Landscape leaders . . . Yes\, you\, – the people that stepped up to help organize your community for an opportunity to engage in a larger bioregional conversation\, – and a few who wanted to be involved\, but the timing was off. \nThe Regenerate Cascadia Bioregional Activation Tour\, Summit and Unconference are now over\, and its time for us\, as core organizers\, to build on the momentum of Regenerate Victoria (or Regenerate Southern Vancouver Island or whatever place name we decide on). \nThe beautiful new Broad View United library/lounge has been offered as a venue for hosting an in-person gathering with core organizers that stepped up to help host the Activation Tour in October. \nThe meeting will take place on:\nDecember 16\, 2023\nfrom 10am – 12pm.\nBroad View United (BVU)\n3703 St Aidan’s Street \nWe will start with a short overview and update on the 14 stop Regenerate Cascadia Activation Tour and the work that has happened so far. We would then like to hear from you:\nWhat worked well locally? What did we learn?\nWho wasn’t there from our watershed\, and who else do we need to reach out to?\nWhat’s next?\nWe are inviting you to help co-create a path that considers the question\, “where-to from here?” Val Murray\, experienced in ‘The Way of Council’\, will help facilitate a circle process to look at these questions together. \nTo that end\, we have pre-booked the sanctuary at BVU for January 13th\, 2024 in order to host a larger gathering. \nIf you have any questions\, please be in touch by email or phone. \nWarmly\nClare\n(250) 744-9733
